After a long, successful career creating leaded and stained glass for luxury homes and commercial projects (specialising in domed ceilings) around the world, Bill Fussner retired from Solarium Design Group Ltd. early in 2020.  But his definition of retirement is not like most.  Bill’s lifelong fascination with handmade objects and his ability to create inspired one of a kind pieces has resulted in his new venture, PANOPLY.

I've collected so many things for so long and felt so much appreciation for what each thing is or represents to me perhaps from my earlier life; old toys, education, parents etc. Having these things around me was comforting and finding things that were put aside would often be a sweet surprise. There was always an appreciation of these pieces even if chipped, cracked or tattered. I would see the beauty in what is left rather than be in distress over the piece that is broken or what is missing as it shows that its been loved, used or handled by someone.

My new desire is to allow others to see and be touched in some way as I have been. to create a smile and spark one's curiosity.

I like the idea of the "Cabinet of Curiosities" ~The old clock cases are a perfect container for my pieces in so far as a way to begin. They are old (already a cabinet of sorts) and just need a little improvisation to complete them. Other small cabinets or shadow boxes are also ideal. I don't generally focus on a theme, the containers are driven by what I have and I allow one thing to play off of another.

Glass domes are meaningful to me and so I have chosen to create small worlds within glass domes of every size. This allows me to preserve history and/or express something unique from putting bits and pieces together.

I hope you will enjoy this collection of these curated treasures. If you have more than a casual interest in any of the pieces, please feel free to contact me.
